Founded in 2009, mock-off.com was inspired by a single purple bag. The story goes that founder Emily Ward was flipping through a magazine and found the perfect purple hobo-style handbag. The only drawback - the $350 price tag. Weeks later on a trip to Target, Emily found a bag that was so similiar to the purple designer bag she could hardly tell the difference. The price: $20.
Hapily, she purchased the bag. As she walked out of the store She thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a single place online where you can search designer looks for their inspired knock-off pieces?”
And so the concept of the "mock-off" was born. |
