The Duchess of Cambridge's High Street Style

|
While her wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton , thus raising the profile of Alexander McQueen even higher, Kate Middleton has shown that she has not been changed too much by her royal status as she still likes to shop on the high street. To highlight this, we can look at the contrast between the day of her wedding and the day after. The long, white dress that she walked down the aisle in was absolutely stunning, and she wore the look extremely well. But if you were thinking that she would stick with designer fashion after officially becoming royalty, you were wrong. Just the day after her wedding, Kate was spotted wearing a blue dress from Zara. She still looked radiant however, proving with ease that any clothes can be stylish is you wear them right.

Kate has worn dresses from Reiss in her engagement photo and also to meet the Obamas. She has also been seen shopping in Topshop in London's High Street Kensington. Those of us who shop in Topshop, whether it is in store or online after playing a game of Cheeky Bingo, can now know that we are on a par with the Duchess of Cambridge, at least in one aspect of her life. Her choices are not only great for people to admire and take their fashion tips from, they are also helping to boost the sales of the shops where she buys her clothes from. Almost as soon as Kate is seen wearing something from the high street, the sops sell out of the item. This shows how much her fashion sense influences the public, and that her style is widely respected.
By shopping on the high street, Kate has shown that she is remaining grounded. This makes copying her style a whole lot easier, as her fashion is accessible to everyone. We don't even have to look for cheaper versions of many of her clothes, as she is already wearing reasonably priced items. She does it with such style that it is not always obvious whether she is wearing something from Topshop of from a designer, which is all part of the aim of fashion.
